This is specially important since it concerns safety on the road. Some years ago a gentleman told me that the track rod on his Isetta had fallen off one end as he was pulling out of his drive. On inspection, I found that the Silentbloc bush rubber was so badly perished that the track rod fell clear of the bolt and inner tube of the bush. This could have been very dangerous if it had happened at speed on a main road.

The point is, it is essential to fit the LARGE flat safety washer under the head of the bolt in both cases. This washer prevents the track rod eye from falling down clear of the bolt.

I have seen many Isetta's without these washers. They are alright whilst the bushes are sound, but whenever wear is present, they could be dangerous. I think it would be a good idea for all Isetta owners to check this point, especially if they have not renewed the bushes themselves, as a previous owner could have omitted to firt the washers.
